proverbs 18.

i am the procrastinator.

i literally wait till the very last minute to do my homework, sometimes the night before, sometimes the class before, and sometimes during the class. i think this applies to a lot of people at school. we really don’t understand the idea of ‘tasting the bitterness now, and the sweetness later’ (sounds kinda weird, but it makes way more sense in chinese)

in this chapter of proverbs this verse stood out to me

“One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys” Proverbs 18:9

this basically says, whoever slacks off is a brother to the devil. that is kind of creepy, it works though. it makes you think twice before procrastinating again. maybe i should stick this verse on to my wall or something.

but seriously, if i didn’t try hard enough in what i am put to do in life, i’m now practically a devil. that’s completely devastating. the thing is, God really did put us on earth so that we could try out best, work hard on the things that he gave us to do. he tells us to take care of the universe, and instead we destroy it, brother of the devil. if you don’t study for a test, you ‘re not doing what God put you here for, brother of the devil. well obviously, you’re not put here on earth to study for a test, but you’re here to be at school and learn as much as you can so that you can serve God later on. so if you don’t try, you’re in big trouble.

The second verse that stood out is

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;the righteous run to it and are safe.” Proverbs 18:10

i’ve been through a lot of things in life, and i don’t really look to God for refuge, i just kind of try to solve the problem. and if it doesn’t work , i’ll be mad, but i’ll know it’s my fault. i think this is the perfect analogy of God. a strong steadfast pilar. he will be strong and take care of you, and he’ll never leave, he’ll be always there, you just have to look through the fog and there it is your refuge. don’t be afraid to ask him to comfort you and keep your heart at peace, he’ll be more than delighted to help you.
